5 out of 5 stars A knockout   January 31, 2010

I need to use a prescription nasal spray too and the Claritin is a "booster" in the evening. It says "no drowsy" formula but I've learned to take it an hour before I go to sleep because it knocks me down and out for the night. My wife thinks it is because it alleviates a form of sleep apnea that she believes I have. I think there's something in the formula that allows be to sleep heavily without any hangover or other after effects in the morning. I'm not going to leave home without it nor am I going to take it before 9PM.

This is the best price out there for Claritin I've seen. Its probably because the product expires in one year instead of two, but that is still plenty of time. Doesn't always work for severe allergies, but for small and seasonal allergies works great.

4 out of 5 stars Helps with the Eyes, but Lacks in the Runny Nose Department   May 1, 2004

As I've said, I experience spring allergies that cause me A LOT of discomfort. I'm usually miserable for weeks with watery and itchy eyes and a runny nose that just LOVES to give me problems. So, I have to take something to try to ease the discomfort somewhat.

Claritin does a great job of easing that discomfort. While it may not solve the problem entirely, I find that it does wonders for the watery and itchy eyes, which is usually my biggest problem. When I take Claritin, it does a great job of decreasing that factor. My eyes get clear, they very rarely feel itchy, and it's a problem I don't have to worry about.

However, Claritin seems to lack in the runny nose department. It does nothing for my nose. In fact, I had to buy a nasal pump to take care of my nose, which seems to be working a lot better. With how much these pills cost, you'd think that it'd really take care of the nose as well. Then again, it may vary with different people. I just know that it doesn't help me a lot in that area.

The plus side is that the pills are easy to use. You only take one a day, which is a lot better than having to take pills every four to six hours. Just take one a day, and you're set. You don't have to worry about taking another one again until the next day, so it's easy to keep track of how many doses you've taken.

The downside is the price. They're very expensive. I'm sure there are other brands out there that probably cost less that do basically the same thing, but I don't know of any at the moment. I just use this. And the other downside is that it really seems to be lacking in helping the runny noses (again, maybe this varies from person to person).

All in all, Claritin does more than a mediocre job of helping my allergies. It really takes care of the watery and itchy eyes, which I'm grateful for. While it may be expensive and it may not cure or solve every allergy problem you have, it's worth checking out. I admit that it doesn't cure all of my problems, but I know I'd be in a lot worse shape if I didn't take it. -Michael Crane

I have a three year old tabby named Jones. She is a delightful companion and pet. she used tomake me sneeze. but now I take claritan and I don't sneeze anymore. sure it makes me speedy and my heart races. But its worth it.

3 out of 5 stars Umm, not too great, especially for noses   June 12, 2004

This stuff is just okay. If you don't have severe allergies, then you'll probably be okay with just Claritin. However, don't expect it to treat nose allergies. I still sneeze with this stuff whenever I'm around dust and my nose just doesn't stop. I've tried Allegra too, which works better, but still, Benadryl works the best. Take it with a Coke and you'll stay awake!
